"Gaura Special Program" Organized for the First Time in Israel by the Far Western Nepalese Society – A Glimpse of Cultural Unity Through Deuda, Teej, and Barka Atwari

 

Tel Aviv, Israel – August 22, 2025:

For the first time, the Far Western Nepalese Society Israel organized a grand "Gaura Special Program" at Midron Yaffo Park, Tel Aviv, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Nepal’s Far Western region and the diversity of Nepali festivals on a single platform.

 

His Excellency Dhan Prasad Pandit, the Nepali Ambassador to Israel, attended as the chief guest and emphasized the importance of unity among all Nepalis through participation in the traditional Deuda dance.

 

Celebrating Diversity and Inclusion

 

The program featured:

 

Traditional Deuda dance of the Far Western region

 

A Teej “Dar” (feast) celebration, honoring the major Hindu women’s festival

 

A Barka Atwari greeting and exchange ceremony from the Tharu community

 

This inclusive celebration reflected not only the rich traditions of the Far West but also highlighted cultural harmony and integration among different Nepali communities abroad.

 

Voices of Leadership and Legacy

 

The event began with a welcome speech by Nepal Coordinator Anita Shah Rawal.

Patron Ramesh Joshi spoke on the uniqueness and richness of Far Western culture, stating, “The Far West is in itself a special and culturally prosperous region.”

Another patron, Bishnu Chaudhary, expressed that despite many challenges, the formation of the society and the successful execution of its first major program was itself a historic achievement.

 

Unity Through Culture

 

The highlight of the event was the Deuda dance, where even Ambassador Pandit participated, sending a powerful message of unity among Nepalese living abroad.

 

In his closing remarks, Society President Krishna Chaudhary expressed gratitude to all attendees and committed to organizing even larger cultural events in the future.

The entire event was impressively coordinated and conducted by General Secretary Binod Thagunna.
